I’ve recorded details of some of my travels. This is mostly for my records, but maybe someone will find my observations interesting or useful for planning their own trip.
Lizy, Theodore and I went camping in Pinecrest July 13- July 15, 2025. It was Theodore’s first camping trip. We were worried he wouldn’t enjoy it, but he ended up loving it. Packing and unpacking were quite laborious, but it was well worth the effort.
Introduction Lizy and I visited our friends Kasia and Jeff in Mammoth from August 2–August 5, 2024. Kasia and Jeff were staying in Mammoth for the summer, and we stayed with them in the apartment they were renting. Lizy and I took a trip to Los Angeles to visit my cousin Nick, who was dog-sitting for his friends. We stayed with him for a few days and visited the sights of LA.
Lizy and I went on a trip to Toronto and Ottawa from June 7 2024 to June 16 2024. The forcing function of the trip was my highschool friend, Bernard’s, wedding in Toronto. The trip was filled with catching up with family and friends in both cities.
Introduction Lizy and I went on a trip to the Alta Ski Area from February 13–19, 2024. We stayed at the hotel Goldminer’s Daughter. Our ski passes were included as part of our Ikon pass, and they allowed us to ski between Alta and Snowbird, but we spent most of our time at Alta for reasons I’ll explain later in the post. Lizy and I went to Mexico with her parents Any and Elizabeth from December 22 to January 4th. The trip was mostly Andy’s idea because he had a strong desire to see Mexico city and especially the pyramids of Teotihuacan. The location was also somewhat central from both Ottawas and San Francisco. I didn’t do much reading about Mexico City before hand so some of the historical background information may be lacking in this blog. Our group had strong personalities so we were often pulled in different directions, but in the end we were able to find some mutual understandings and have a good time. ...
Preamble We decided for our first anniversary we would finally finish hiking Maggies South Peak. Maggies South Peak is the southern peak of a pair of peaks known as Maggies Peaks in Desolation Wilderness, Lake Tahoe, California. Almost two years previously we had tried to summit the mountain in November. At the time, I thought the peak of the mountain would be the perfect place to propose. The hike to the top is about 2 miles with about 2000 feet of elevation gain. The hike starts at Inspiration Lookout, a popular tourist sport to to witness Emerald Bay. The trail goes straight into the mountains behind the lake with views of Emerald Bay. It plateaus at Granite Lake, a small alpine lake. Then it continues up the mountain in a series of switch backs, until one reaches a lookout of Desolation Wilderness where one can see a large valley and Maggies North Peak. At this point there’s a few use trails that climb straight up the last quarter mile to the top of the Maggies Southern Peak. ...
Lizy and I went to Greece for our honeymoon from May 12 to May 27. We decided to go to Greece for our honeymoon because that was where Lizy’s parents met and got married.
