Canada for Bernard and Eugenia's Wedding

Lizy and I went on a trip to Toronto and Ottawa from June 7 2024 to June 16 2024. The forcing function of the trip was my highschool friend, Bernard’s, wedding in Toronto. The trip was filled with catching up with family and friends in both cities.

First Couple of Days in Toronto

Day 1 in Toronto I worked remotely most of the day. I had a nice lunch with my mom and my brother, Harrison. I ate three boiled eggs, bean salad, and leftover pasta with peruvian beans that I had brought for the plane ride over. Lizy had lunch with my cousin, Sarah, to learn more about my family tree. Sarah brought out a printed family tree that had been compiled by a distant cousin of ours in New York. She also had a document from Yad Vashem showing my great-great grandfather had died in the Treblinka death camp. ...

Catching Up With Friends

Cleaning the Gutter By the time I woke up Lizy had already gotten up, so I went to go find her. When I got to the kitchen I was surprised to see her cleaning the back windows of the solarium. Before I could ask her what was going on, Lizy said, “Get the hose from the garage.” The hose was hooked up in the front of my parents’ garage, so to get it to the back windows, I’d have to stretch it through the garage, out the backdoor of the garage, past the stone lined walkway, and across the backyard. Day of the Wedding

Getting Ready We woke up late. It seemed like we had all the time in the world to get ready but after I took a shower it suddenly seemed like we were going to be late. I stayed calm, but Lizy got increasingly nervous. The fact that I was so calm seemed to infuriate her to no end. I assured her we were going to be fine. And I meant it, until I put on my suit. When I found the suit in my closet it was still in the jacket cover from the dry cleaner. I unwrapped it. It looked like it always did, but when I put on the pants I had trouble zipping them up. Train Ride The train to Ottawa was mostly without incident. My mom does this thing where she starts doing a bunch of stuff in a flurry right before I leave. One time I went to Montreal with wet laundry because my mom graciously did my laundry but ran out of time to dry it. She almost got into one of these moods again, but I convinced her it was better to have dry clothes. ...
